Cricket Betting at tk 9 — Complete Guide to Betting on BPL, IPL and International Matches
From T20 to Test — learn about the separate markets for each format, live in-play odds and the different betting options available.
To bet on cricket, you first need to understand how the different formats work and which competitions are most familiar to Bangladeshi fans. Each format differs in length, pace and range of possible outcomes — and so do the markets.
T20
In this fast-paced 20-over format, the result of a match can turn in just a few balls. BPL (Bangladesh Premier League), IPL and the T20 World Cup are the three competitions that generate the most interest among Bangladeshi fans. T20 is the most suitable format for live betting.
ODI
In a 50-over one-day match, mid-game strategy and the balance between batting and bowling play an important role in betting. A wide range of markets is available across major ODI tournaments including the ICC Champions Trophy and the World Cup.
Test
In the longest five-day format, a draw is a valid result, so there are three markets — win, loss and draw. Odds shift with every session of the match. Tests tend to feature more long-term markets such as series result, innings total and top performer.
Whenever the Bangladesh Tigers play on the international stage, those matches naturally attract the most attention. The BPL is the main franchise cricket event in the country each season — check the offers section below for details of special bonuses during the cricket season.
Alongside cricket, football is very popular in Bangladesh. The range of betting markets for the English Premier League, UEFA Champions League and FIFA World Cup differs from what is available in cricket.
Football has three possible match outcomes — win, draw or loss. But in T20 and ODI cricket there is normally no draw, giving only two outcomes. This difference directly affects how odds are set.
Betting markets for badminton, kabaddi, tennis and basketball are also available during specific seasons. Cricket and football, however, offer the most options throughout the year.
- Cricket: match winner, toss, innings total, player performance
- Football: handicap, goals over/under, both teams to score
- Other: set winner, points total, season champion
A variety of markets is available for cricket betting at tk 9. A brief explanation of how each market works is given below.
Match Winner
The simplest market — which team will win the match. Two options in T20 and ODI; three in Test — Team A win, Team B win or draw.
Toss Winner
A bet on the outcome of the toss before the match starts. As there are only two possibilities, odds are generally close to even.
Top Batsman
Who will score the most runs for a team? This market compares the batsmen within the same team.
Total Runs Over / Under
A bet on whether the total runs scored will be more (over) or fewer (under) than a set number. Can apply to a specific over or an entire innings.
Top Bowler
A bet on which bowler will take the most wickets in an innings or match.
Multi Bet
Combining multiple selections increases the combined odds — but all selections must win; if any one loses, the entire bet is lost. Detailed odds examples are given below.
Cricket betting odds are displayed in three formats — decimal, fractional and American. tk 9 generally uses decimal, but knowing all three formats helps you follow any site or app.
Team A to win, bet ৳500:
If Team A wins, the return is ৳1,250 (৳750 profit + ৳500 stake). If Team A loses, ৳500 is gone.
Team B to win (favourite), bet ৳500:
A negative American odds figure shows how much you need to stake to win ৳100. If Team B wins, the return is ৳900 (৳400 profit).
A multi bet with three selections — decimal 1.50 × 1.70 × 1.90 — gives combined odds of 4.84. A ৳100 bet returns ৳484 if all win. If any one loses, the full ৳100 is gone.
Decimal vs Fractional
Decimal odds are straightforward to calculate — the number is a direct multiplier of your stake. Fractional odds follow the British system — the numerator is the profit and the denominator is the stake; add the stake back to get your total return. Most Bangladeshi users find decimal odds more comfortable.
In-play betting means you can place bets after the match has started. In cricket this is especially relevant because every wicket, every six or a run-out instantly changes the odds.
Say Team A has lost 5 wickets in the 15th over of a T20 and their run rate is behind — in that situation Team A's odds of winning will lengthen and Team B's will shorten. Live markets reflect these changes immediately.
A few things to keep in mind with in-play betting:
- Markets may be briefly suspended at certain events (such as after a wicket)
- Live odds change quickly — the odds shown on screen when you confirm are the final odds
- Separate markets may open after each over or at the end of a powerplay
- Special rules such as a Super Over in the event of a tie can affect odds
